For over six decades, North Peace Veterinary Clinic has provided exceptional veterinary care to the Fort St. John community and surrounding Peace Country. What began in Dr. Wood’s family home basement has evolved into a comprehensive veterinary center through expansions in 1974 and 2013, alongside ongoing renovations to better serve our patients.

Our team of seven experienced veterinarians, supported by dedicated staff, offers extensive expertise in both small and large animal medicine. We’re proud of our deep roots in this community and remain committed to the health and wellbeing of your beloved companions and livestock.

Meet Our Veterinary Team

Dr. Perry Spitzer

A graduate of the Western College of Veterinary Medicine (1988), Dr. Perry Spitzer joined our clinic in 1991. With a background growing up on a mixed farm with purebred Charolais cattle, he brings particular expertise in large animal medicine and the beef industry while enjoying all aspects of mixed veterinary practice.

Dr. Corinne Spitzer

Dr. Corinne Spitzer’s connection to our clinic spans from high school student to practice owner and executive director. A local who grew up on a Beatton River beef ranch, she graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 1989 and returned to North Peace Veterinary Clinic in 1991 after practicing in Alberta.

Dr. Richard Wood

A North Pine native from one of the area’s pioneering farm families, Dr. Wood graduated from Ontario Veterinary College in 1967 and purchased North Peace Veterinary Clinic that same year. His leadership has been instrumental in our growth from a solo practice to today’s multi-veterinarian team. Dr. Wood now specializes in small animal surgery with particular expertise in orthopedics.

Dr. Katharine North

After growing up in Fort St. John, Dr. North returned to her native UK to earn her Bachelor of Veterinary Science from the University of Liverpool in 2000. She joined our practice immediately after graduation and focuses on small animal care with special interests in surgery, ultrasonography, and dentistry.

Dr. Kim Jones

Originally from Kelowna, Dr. Jones graduated with distinction from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine and joined our team in 2009. She practices mixed animal medicine with particular interests in surgery and equine medicine while enjoying northern BC’s outdoor lifestyle.

Dr. Sydney Routley

A Fort St. John native and 2012 graduate of the Western College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Routley’s connection with our practice dates back to 2004. She specializes in small animal medicine and exotic pets, including pocket pets, birds, and reptiles. Dr. Routley completed acupuncture training in 2017 and incorporates this modality into her veterinary approach.

Dr. Sydney Spitzer

Born in Fort St. John and raised on a small cattle and sheep farm, Dr. Spitzer graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 2019. Her veterinary interests include both large and small animal surgery with specific focuses on orthopedics, ruminant medicine, dentistry, and small animal nutrition. Dr. Spitzer maintains strong ties to the local 4-H community.

Dr. Corinna Goodine

A Peace Country local, Dr. Goodine worked at our clinic as a student before graduating from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 2015. Recently returned from family leave, she focuses on small animal medicine and surgery as well as beef production.
