Dr. Wendy McClelland, DVM

A Lifetime of Compassion and Care

Dr. Wendy McClelland grew up on a farm in Southern Alberta, surrounded by animals. Pets were always considered family members, and she developed a natural interest in caring for them. Her earliest memory of wanting to become a veterinarian dates back to when she was just 8 years old.

Education and Early Career

This childhood dream became reality when she received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine certification from the University of Saskatoon in 2002. Dr. Wendy began her professional journey working in a mixed animal clinic in her hometown of Pincher Creek, Alberta. In 2011, she and her family settled in Cochrane.

A New Approach to Veterinary Care

Dr. Wendy’s perspective on veterinary practice changed when she noticed that many pets didn’t feel comfortable in traditional clinical settings. Her heart went out to frightened cats, senior pets struggling with stairs, creatures who preferred not to be near other animals, and those who disliked car journeys.

Home Visit Experience

Since 2009, Dr. Wendy has been providing veterinary house calls. With over a decade of experience in home veterinary visits, she maintains her passion for the personalized care this approach allows her to provide.

Recognition and Media Presence

Dr. Wendy’s expertise and innovative approach have been featured in numerous publications and media outlets, including the Calgary Herald, CMT television, and the Corus Radio Network. She has also appeared on the national television program Pet Heroes.

Personal Life

Today, Dr. Wendy continues to enjoy being surrounded by animals and has three wonderful cats of her own: Sunny Seeds, Baddic, and Raven. You can trust that Dr. Wendy will treat your pet with the same care and compassion she shows her own beloved cats.
