About
Dr. Macgregor
Veterinary medicine was the only profession Macgregor ever wanted to pursue. From a very early age, he was interested in and fascinated by both wild and domestic animals; this bond began with a childhood friend, an Airedale Terrier named Crockett. In his early years, Macgregor satisfied his desire to observe and care for creatures of all shapes and sizes in every way, from pet fish, lizards, and small mammals to catching and later releasing wild snakes, frogs, and even biting turtles. It didn’t take long for his family to discover some of these free-roaming creatures in their home, which took longer than the arrival of his own pet rabbit named Carter!
In 2001, at the age of 18, Macgregor moved to Edinburgh, Scotland to fulfill his lifelong dream. After graduating from the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, he accepted his first full-time position at the ‘Veterinary Centre’ in Henley-on-Thames, England. This is a wonderful private hospital that provides a wide range of medical, surgical, emergency, and wildlife care. Not only was it an incredible place for Macgregor to start his career, but it was also where he was fortunate enough to meet Tanja! Now, with the help of their daughter Samantha, the two are finally opening their own practice together. Having grown up just down the street and spent the last 4 years working nearby, Mac is excited to do this in an area where he feels a strong personal and professional connection. He believes in not only providing the highest quality care to his patients but also in building long-term relationships with his colleagues and clients.
Dr. Adam
Dr. Adam Kleinberg joined the Spinks Vet Clinic team in Spring 2019. Adam had a unique passion for being around animals of all shapes and sizes from a very young age. Growing up, he spent many summers training in busy veterinary hospitals in the city and volunteering at the Zoo.
After completing his Bachelor’s degree in Animal Biology at Western University and a Master’s degree in Nutrition and Physiology at the University of Guelph, Adam graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in Guelph, Ontario.
Throughout his career, Adam has had many opportunities to expand his clinical experience abroad. In 2014, Adam volunteered in Southeast Asia, helping local communities in need. His team provided primary care at a small animal rescue center on the island of Koh Samui for three months, rehabilitated wildlife at the Laos Zoo, and cared for injured Asian elephants at the Elephant Nature Park in the Northern Thailand rainforest. During his veterinary education, Adam completed his surgical externship at the Humane Alliance, a state-of-the-art spay/neuter training facility in Asheville, NC, which ultimately ignited his love for surgery. In 2018, he completed his Level I Dental Surgery certification at the prestigious Veterinary Dental Training Center in San Diego, CA.
Adam’s professional interests include geriatric medicine, clinical nutrition, dentistry, soft tissue surgery, and anesthesia. He is a recognized photographer, gourmet, technology enthusiast, and avid golfer. When not at the clinic, Adam enjoys traveling and spending time at the cottage with his lovely wife Jackie, two daughters Noa and Mae, and Mini Bernedoodle Wally! Adam’s love for practice is based on fostering long-term relationships with pet owners and their animals from the moment they first step in on all fours until their later years.
Dr. Delaney
Dr. Delaney Miller joined the Spinks Vet team in January 2021. After completing her bachelor’s degree in Animal Biology at the University of Guelph, Delaney moved to Edinburgh, Scotland to attend the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies. She graduated in 2020 and began her career at a small animal clinic in Richmond Hill. She has known Mac and Tanja for many years and had worked with them before Spinks Veterinary Clinic opened.
Delaney is passionate about animal welfare and behavior and has a strong interest in feline medicine. Although she loves all patients, she has a special fondness for senior cats. While in veterinary school, Delaney was involved in community outreach through her work with All4Paws, a student-run clinic that provides veterinary services to pets of vulnerably housed people. Delaney chose to become a veterinarian because of her love for animals and the human-animal bond. Her favorite part of the job is building meaningful relationships with clients and their pets. It is important to her to work with clients to make every visit to the clinic the most positive experience possible for each patient.
Outside of work, Delaney’s hobbies include traveling, hosting trivia nights, trying to keep her growing plant collection alive, exploring new places with her three Samoyeds, and spending a quiet evening reading with her two rescue cats, Navi and Lucy.
Dr. Stewart
Dr. Stewart Higginbotham has a love for animals that extends back to his childhood, stemming from his childhood dog, a poodle named Ginger. He always knew he wanted to be a veterinarian and spent much of his early life volunteering and gaining veterinary experience to make this possible. He studied Biomedical Sciences at the University of Guelph before attending the Ontario Veterinary College.
After graduating in 2019, Stewart moved to Prince Edward Island where he and his wife Meg, also a veterinarian, worked for 5 years and adopted their two dogs – Golden Retriever Goose and three-legged Chihuahua mix Matilda. In 2024, they returned to Stewart’s hometown of Toronto.
Stewart is very excited to join the Spinks team! His favorite aspects of veterinary practice include preventive medicine, soft tissue surgery, pain management, and dermatology. He looks forward to getting to know you and your pets!
Outside of work, Stewart is an enthusiastic outdoorsman who spends time canoeing, camping, and hiking. He is also a passionate tennis player and skier.
Dr. Jen
Dr. Jen Hodges grew up surrounded by family pets, which encouraged her to become a veterinarian. She attended the University of Guelph to earn her Bachelor of Science degree, then graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2006. Since then, she has been practicing small animal medicine in Toronto, focusing on preventive care, nutrition, and internal medicine.
Jen is also an artist and enjoys creating abstract paintings. She loves spending time outdoors at the cottage with her family, including her two crazy boxer dogs.
